Pasta Mario

INGREDIENTS

120 g ground meat (beef or pork)
200 g dried pasta (like spaghetti or penne)
2 tablespoons olive oil
30 g grated Parmesan cheese
A handful of fresh basil leaves
1 large egg
Salt and pepper to taste

HOW TO MAKE PASTA MARIO

Cook the pasta:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the dried pasta according to the package instructions until al dente
Drain and set aside, reserving a little pasta water
Prepare the meat:
In a pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat
Add the ground meat and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked through
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Mix the egg and cheese:
In a small bowl, whisk the egg with the grated Parmesan until well combined
Set aside

 

Combine everything:
Once the meat is cooked, add the drained pasta to the pan. Remove the pan from the heat and quickly stir in the egg and cheese mixture, tossing the pasta to coat it evenly. If the mixture seems too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to loosen it.
Add finishing touches:
Tear the basil leaves and add them to the pasta. Toss everything together gently.
Serve:
Top with more Parmesan cheese and a drizzle of olive oil if desired.
